Our client, a well-established investment management firm in Houston, is seeking a software developer to help build and support the technology behind their investment platform. This role blends backend development with financial data work, contributing to systems that support portfolio management, performance reporting, and risk analysis, all while working closely with investment and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain systems that support investment and portfolio management functions

• Build and support applications tied to performance reporting and risk analytics

• Develop tools and pipelines for processing market and pricing data using Python

• Build backend services and APIs supporting core investment workflows

• Ensure data remains accurate, consistent, and traceable across systems

• Work with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions

• Troubleshoot data and system issues, including reconciliation and performance concerns

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical standards

• Follow secure development practices suited to a business critical environment

• Explore ways to bring modern data and automation techniques into existing systems

• Design and maintain SQL Server database structures supporting financial and historical data

• Write and optimize queries supporting reporting and analytics needs

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with several years of professional development experience

• Strong backend development skills using C# within the .NET Framework ecosystem

• Professional experience using Python for data processing or workflow automation

• Strong relational database experience, including schema design and query optimization

• Exposure to financial, transactional, or time-based data sets

• Solid understanding of clean code principles and maintainable design

• Comfortable using Git in a team development environment

• High attention to detail, especially around data quality and accuracy

• Strong communication skills across technical and business audiences

• Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Genuine interest in financial markets and a desire to grow technical skills over time

Preferred

• Background in investment management, wealth management, or a related financial environment

• Familiarity with investment concepts such as positions, trades, performance, or valuations

• Experience supporting systems used by front office or investment professionals

• AI/ML experience is a plus

• Exposure to integrating data from outside vendors or providers

• Experience working in a secure Azure enterprise environment

• Familiarity with automated or scheduled data processing

• Exposure to containerization or CI/CD pipelines

• Experience with Pandas or basic machine learning concepts
