Blockland is a physics sandbox game, played by over 35k people. It is made of several different types of "Blocks", the infrastructure of the game.

Minecraft is a virtual sandbox of blocks, making up randomly generated worlds. The game itself is still in "Beta 1.8.1", but the community is of over 4 Million people, and 16 Million registered users.
