Walker Elliott has partnered with our client to locate a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join their innovative team. The company specializes in developing cutting-edge electronic products for the oil and gas industry and is looking for a talented individual to contribute to our circuit design and development processes.

Responsibilities
Circuit Design and Development

• Create and optimize electrical circuit designs for various projects

• Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using industry-standard software

• Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for designed circuits

• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input

Component Selection

• Research and select appropriate electronic components for circuit designs

• Stay updated on the latest component technologies and industry trends

Prototyping and Testing

• Build and test prototype circuits using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and soldering irons

• Troubleshoot and debug circuit issues, providing solutions to improve performance

• Conduct thorough testing to ensure circuit designs meet specifications and quality standards

Documentation and Collaboration

• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for circuit designs

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical designs into overall product development

Basic Coding

• Write basic code to test and validate designed or reviewed circuit boards

• Develop simple test scripts or programs to automate testing procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

• Proven experience in circuit design and PCB layout

• Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout software

• Strong knowledge of electronic components and their applications

• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and soldering irons

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment

Preferred

• 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering and circuit design

• Familiarity with coding languages such as C, Python, or MATLAB

• Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller programming

• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations is a plus (e.g., FCC, CE)

Skills and Abilities

• Proficient in using schematic capture and PCB layout software

• Skilled in BOM generation and management

• Experienced in using oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and other lab equipment for circuit troubleshooting

• Basic coding ability to write test scripts or programs

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
