Description:
Job Title: Network and Systems Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Network and Systems Engineer to join our client's infrastructure team of 7, supporting a growing user base of 400 people. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, with expertise in Cisco and Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate firewalls. This role is split between network (65%) and systems (35%) responsibilities, with a primary focus on routing and switching. Experience with VMware, VDI, and Active Directory is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support, with some Level 1 tasks as needed.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, focusing on Cisco and Fortinet routing and switching, including FortiGate firewalls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to ensure seamless connectivity and performance.
- Collaborate with the infrastructure team to design, implement, and optimize network and systems environments.
- Support and maintain virtual environments using VMware and VDI technologies.
- Assist in the administration of Active Directory and related services.
- Monitor and ensure the security and availability of network and system resources.
- Perform network performance tuning and capacity planning.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in network and systems engineering.
- Expertise in Cisco networking technologies.
- Strong experience with Fortinet, especially FortiGate firewalls.
- Solid understanding of routing and switching protocols.
- Experience with VMware, VDI, and Active Directory is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network and system issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work onsite 5 days a week.
Preferred Certifications:
- Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, etc.)
- Fortinet certifications (NSE 4, NSE 5, etc.)
Work Environment:
- Onsite role located in West Houston, TX.
- Join a collaborative infrastructure team of 7 with plans to expand.
