Job Detail: Systems Engineer - Windows & Linux

Description:

Highly successful and growing Financial industry client - HQ near the DFW Airport - engaged Walker Elliott to find a talented Linux & Windows System Engineer. Our client is looking for someone with a mix of skills including Linux Systems, Windows Server deployment, cluster configuration and database server performance monitoring. Exciting chance to experience working in a small team where you will dip your toes in multiple buckets.

The following skills and experience are desired:

• 3+ years of Linux system/network experience with RHEL or similar

• 3+ years managing Windows servers, configuration, implementation, backup/restore

• Hyper-V, VMware skills

• Strong Scripting (bash, shell, Python, etc.) and command line level experience

• Experience deploying and managing Web servers, database servers and applications for the enterprise

• Some combination of MS Exchange administration, Active Directory, or Security experience is desired - any MS Clustering experience a plus

• Cloud engineering knowledge - Azure AD, Azure Stack HCI, M365 - a plus

• Must be able to function effectively in a variety of team styles and sizes

• The ability to think 'outside the box' and bring resulting ideas to the team needed

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor Linux and Windows systems for health and performance

• Administration duties such as adding/modifying user accounts, updating NIS/DNS maps and performing scheduled backups

• Script various administrative tasks such as automated monitoring and notification, file system cleanup and configuration reporting

• Configure, install, patch and upgrade systems ranging from workstations to enterprise class and cluster systems 

• Troubleshoot issues in an enterprise database and server environment

• Work on projects such as testing/implementing new hardware, tools, applications and configurations

• Develop and maintain documentation or procedures and processes, as well as, maintenance logs and equipment databases
