Description:
Walker Elliott is working on an outstanding career role for a Tier 3 Desktop Engineer.
Our client, a well-respected Managed Service Provider, is looking for a level 2 or level 3 Desktop Engineer with prior MSP experience. The right candidate will be comfortable working in different settings and taking care of multiple clients. This role performs technical support services for corporate clients in a Windows environment. In addition, there will be some limited system integration, network support and server work.
Responsibilities:
- Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes. Trouble shoots and applies remedial action.
- Reviews system and application logs and verifies completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Be an active part of the team that plans, designs, documents, and implements various systems to include desktop PC's, servers, network equipment, and software applications.
- Provides escalated technical support to customers by handling systems-related issues; may provide on-call technical support telephonically and/or electronically.
- Performs repairs, maintenance and upgrades of existing systems using solutions in accordance with standard operating procedures. Investigates and resolves matters of significance.
- Installs, configures, maintains, and monitors client domains. Skill set should include 2003, 2008, and 2012 operating systems with extensive administration of Active Directory, policies, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Terminal Server, XP administration.
- Responsible for time management; adjusts hours of work, priorities, and assignments to ensure adequate performance and client satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Extensive (4+ years) tier 2 or 3 desktop support administration and engineering
- Any certifications a major plus
- A degree is a major plus
- Must have worked for an MSP
- Technology exposure/experience: VMWare (VCenter and multi host experience a plus), hardware, including RAID, network hardware, and backup solutions, Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010/2013/2016, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Terminal Server
- Hyper-V, Symantec Products (Backup Exec), Veeam, SQL Server 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2016, Firewalls/switches (Cisco, Sophos, and Meraki experience preferred), Windows Win7/Win8/Win10,
- MS Office 2007/2010 /2013/2016 and O365, Trend Micro, Eset, Strong working knowledge of spam filtering (Barracuda).
Soft skills requirements:
- Ability to work on multiple priorities and/or projects simultaneously.
- Must be great at listening, team building and communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented.
- Must be able to provide and maintain detailed documentation on each job.
- Must be a strong communicator, verbally and written.
- Be a problem solver! Meet deadlines.
- Be a relationship builder!
